Where's The Truth?

Can one find a shred of truth in the world today? At the present, it appears that the world has lost much of the understanding that it may have had of truth. Turn on the television, the radio, or open the newspaper; people say one thing today, and tomorrow say the direct opposite. Politicians promise things that they know they cannot deliver. How is one to know what is factual? In the world truth changes. A friend may tell me he has tomatoes for sale, but when I go to his house later that day to buy some, he is sold out. When he told me that he had tomatoes for sale, this was true, but as time went by he sold them all, making his first statement false. In the world, what is true today may be untrue tomorrow. Is there a truth that will never change, one that you can always depend on, and will always stand?

The truth is defined by Webster’s as, "a verified or indisputable fact, actual state of a matter."

We are so fortunate to have the Bible with us today. The only thing on Earth that will endure and never fail is the word of the Almighty Jehovah! The Bible is inspired by God, (written by 40 different writers,) spanning a time of about 2,000 years. These writers lived under different governments, different occupations, different geographical regions. It was impossible for them to conspire or to consult one another, yet their writings all agree. (Yet try to get 40 people in one building to agree on one thing. It is nearly unattainable.) Many have tried to prove the Bible false and have failed. If the Bible is not true, then there is no acceptable, or reliable history.

Below are just a few of the many scriptures that prove this point.

Psalms 119:160 - “The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever” (NKJ).

David said that God’s word is truth. Whatever God says is an indisputable fact according to the definition that Webster’s gives. David does not stop there, but says that the entirety, 100% of God’s word is truth. Nothing left out or excluded.

Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” Matthew 24:35, NKJ).

The reason for this is because God’s word is established, firm, unmovable for eternity in heaven as David wrote in Psalms 119:89 - “Forever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven” (NKJ).

2 Timimothy 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (NKJ).

Each of us must believe the scriptures, because they are from God Almighty. If you have a perfect formula for something, you don’t throw it out to see if you can make a better. The perfect formula, you follow it, will yield the desired results.

Psalms 19:7 - “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;” (NKJ)

If God’s word is heeded and obeyed in humble submission it has the power to convert one's soul from a lost and dying condition to a reborn, saved, living being in Christ Jesus. (For more information click SAVED?)

Jesus said, "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him-- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak" John 12:48-50, NKJ).

Here, Jesus gives us a great reason why God’s word must be obeyed. Many of you have been in school, college. It is like the teacher saying, "Okay class, tomorrow there will be a test over such and such chapters.” When the teacher said this, what did you do? If you wanted a good grade? You went home and studied till you were confident that you knew the information in the book. Why? You wanted a good grade because the teacher was going to judge you according to the knowledge in the text book, and how you applied that knowledge. We have been told what standard God will use to judge us by on that great and awesome day of Judgment- -the words Jesus has spoken. We know that the words Jesus spoke are not His, but the Father’s.

According to John 16:13-15 - “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (NKJ).

We must conclude that whatever Jesus and the Holy Spirit say comes by the will of the Father.

Jesus tells us, in John 14:15 - “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (NKJ).

If we do not keep His commandments, then we do not love Him. Our actions speak much louder than our words.

Hebrews 5:8-9 tells us - “though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,” (NKJ)

Christ learned obedience by the things that He suffered. What makes us think that we are better than Jesus, the Son of God? If the Savior of the lost, who was our example: had to learn obedience. Where do we get the concept that we can bypass this important part of God’s plan? If we do not humbly submit to the Father’s will, can we expect Him to give us a home in Heaven? Soul, are you sure that He will give you a home in heaven? Do you want to know for certain that you have a home in heaven waiting in your name? If so, you can know by humbly submitting and following His will. For more information click SAVED? or e-mail me, Dan
